  • M/S  JP Richardson/W Wardle that our estimates to Council as per School Tax Notice to Council for $7,000 be passed. Carried
  • M/S  W Wardle/JP Richardson that we pass By-law #8 to borrow $2,000 as necessary from Royal Bank of Canada Virden Branch.

Harris that the Trustees have decided that the matter is closed and that there is no further payments coming to him and that they are considering taking proceedings against him for removing material from school site without permission..

  • M/S JP Richardson/W Wardle that we pass up School Field Day for this year and in place of Field Day we have a School Picnic and the Principal and teachcers be a Committee to arrange Sport Programme the same to be held in school grounds on June 17th.

Minutes of Trustee meeting held in School May 23, 1932

  • M/S  W Wardle/JP Richardson  that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.
  • M/S  JP Richardson/W Wardle that we purchase about fifteen (15) cords of poplar wood to be cut in 16-inch lengths and piled in basement, two-thirds of wood to be 5 to 8 inches in diameter @ $5 per cord.
  • M/S   W Wardle/Wm Hill that we re-engage our present staff of teachers at the same salaries and be prepared to meet conditions if times should get worse & Secretary urge the Principal to keep time more punctual & that the Trustees would suggest that teachers interview the Trustees before going to parents with any trouble.

Discussion of taxes and teachers’ salaries & Convention held at Reston.

  • M/  W Wardle/ Wm Hill that we reduce the salaries of the teaching staff as follows from the first day of January 1933:  J.C. Martin, Principal from $100 to $80, Miss M.E. Greenway from $70 to $55 per month, Miss H. Moore from $70 to $55 per month.

  • During this meeting we had a very serious talk with the Principal regarding furnace and temperature and the time keeping.

  • M/S  Hill/ Richardson that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.
  • M/S  JP Richardson/Wm Hill that Mr Martin interview Miss Moore regarding her attitude towards some of the scholars in her room and that in future the Principal shall take charge of the punishment of any scholars in the school.

  • M/S  JP Richardson/W Wardle that Secretary notify all three teachers that their contract expires at the end of the term and thank them for their services & that we are cutting down to a two room school.
  • M/S JP Richardson/Wm Hill that we have a “V” constructed on front entrance and small gate fixed along with same.
  • W.R.Beveridge our Inspector was present and discussed with the Trustees the advisability of arranging our school into two rooms owing to the smaller enrollment and the present financial depression.

  • M/S JP Richardson/Wm Hill that we engage Delbert James Duncan to teach the Junior Grades up to Grade VI inclusive for the term 1933/34 starting October 2, 1933 at a salary of $600.

  • A full discussion on Field Day arrangements was gone into and School Van will take majority of scholars. Owing to Whooping Cough being prevalent quite a number of families could not attend.

  • M/S  GA Mooney/D Munro that we offer sixty ($60) per month to Miss McNivin for the 1934/35 term. Miss McNivin accepted the above offer and Mr Duncan is also agreeable to accept ($45) forty-five and free house for the 1934/35 term of ten (10) months.

Minutes of Trustee Meeting held in School July 26, 1934

  • M/S  GA Mooney/Wm Hill that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.
  • M/S  D Munro/GA Mooney that we ask for tenders for transportation of school children. Money earned to be applied on arrears of taxes or other indebtedness to the Municipality. Routes to be divided as follows – North Route from Gardners, North-West Route from Sargents, South Route from gravel road east of Nichols. For further particulars apply to Secretary.
  • Next meeting to be held Thursday August 9th when tenders will be awarded. Also tenders for care-taking on arrears of taxes and wood.

  • M/S C Ritchie/ Wm Hill that DD Cameron be Secretary for year 1934/35 @ a salary of $50 for year to be applied on arrears of taxes.
  • M/S  Wm Hill/D Munro that James G. Cochrane be awarded tender for Van Route at $4.25 or $5, including South Route if needed one dollar & twenty-five cents to be cash. Balance to be applied on arrears of taxes.
  • M/S  Wm Hill/GA Mooney that we accept the tender of Neil Forsyth for North Route @ two dollars per day to start after motor quits in Fall.
  • M/S Wm Hill/ D Munro that we engage Miss Hanley at a salary of $45 per month to teach Junior Room.
