74    Minutes of meeting held in School Jan 11, 1926

  • M/S  G. Dakin/ Mrs Richardson that the teachers course be taught and that the pupils have the option of taking French.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that Miss Mummery be asked by the Principal to teach grade four.

75    Minutes of meeting of Trustees held Feb 19, 1926.

76    Minutes of Meeting of Trustees held March 8, 1926.

  • M/S  Mrs Richardson/Mrs Holt that the Minutes of the last meeting be adopted as read. Carried.
  • M/S Mrs Richardson/Mrs Holt that we ask Mr. Beveridge about a teacher to fill vacancy caused by Miss Mummery’s resignation and if he has no one in sight that we advertise in the Free Press.

77  Minutes of meeting held March 23, 1926.

  • M/S EA Mooney/C Ritchie that a letter be written to the Municipal Council drawing their attention to the condition of the sidewalk and danger to children.

78     Minutes of Meeting held in school May 11, 1926

  • M/S Mrs Richardson/C Ritchie that Miss Cook & Miss Dafoe be asked to stay for another year at same salary as previously paid and we advertise for a Principal asking for experience & salary rate.

  • M/S Richardson/Ritchie that we call for tenders for driving vans over the various routes and that the North route be changed to go around by D. Munro’s.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/Mrs Richardson that we see about renting hall fore another year and that we ask for a chimney and a coal bin.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that we call for tenders for cleaning of school.

82      Minutes of meeting held in school August 6, 1926

  • M/S  C Ritchie/Mrs Holt that Minutes of meeting be adopted as read.
  • M/S  C Ritchie/Mrs Holt that EA Mooney be Chairman and G.A. Dakin be Secretary Treasurer for ensuing year.
  • M/S Mrs Richardson/Mrs Holt that Secretary’s salary be $35 per year.
  • M/S Mrs Richardson/ C Ritchie that we accept Mr Smalley tender for care-taking $200 per year.
  • M/S Ritchie/Dakin that we accept W Rattray tender for North Route, James Cochrane tender for South Route and James Shepherd tender for NorthWest Route, all at $3.75 per day.

  • M/S C Ritchie/Mrs Holt that By-law #4 empowering Chairman & Secretary Treeaurer to sign cheques etc for School District.
  • M/S Ritchie/Mrs Holt that the outstanding accounts be paid and that the Van Drivers be given payment on account.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/C Ritchie that Mr Dakin look after purchasing coal and small supplies also see about  (? wanted?) van for South Route.
  • M/S Holt/Ritchie that teachers salaries be paid as they become due also that care taking be paid each month holding one month’s pay back until end of term.
  • M/S Ritchie/Holt that Ladies Aid be rented the school room for fowl supper provided that room be left ready for school next morning.

87    Minutes of meeting held in school May 23, 1927

  • Minutes of last meeting read and adopted as read.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that Mrs Richardson act as Chairman in the absence of Mr. Mooney.
  • M/S Mrs Holt C Ritchie that estimates be sent to Council for $ 7000 for school funds for next term.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/ C Ritchie that we close school on June 22nd
  • M/S C Ritchie/G Dakin that we employ a complete new staff of teachers for another year.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/C Ritchie that a letter be sent to Mr Mooney regretting his inability to attend meetings.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that the remainder of planned land in school grounds be prepared for trees that this part that is ready be seeded to grass and used as same.

88    Minutes of meeting held July 18, 1927

  • M/S Mrs Richardson/C Ritchie that we call the tenders for the various Van Routes changing the South Route to go to [? Luwbs- could not make out this name]  And that we call for tenders for the cleaning of the school.
  • M/S   C Ritchie/ Mrs Richardsdon that we call a bee to finish hoeing weeds among the trees in the Park on Monday July 25th.
  • M/S  Mrs Holt/Mrs Richardson that the Secretary be instructed to employ Mr Murphy as Principal at a salary of  about $1,600 or failing this to get in touch with Mr McNeil [? very faint, could not be sure of this name] of Griswold.

89   Minutes of meeting held in School August 2nd, 1927

  • Minutes of last meeting read and adopted as read.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that DD  Cameron be Chairman for the ensuing year.
  • M/S   DD Cameron/C Ritchie that the Secretary Treasurer salary be $80 per annum and that GA Dakin be appointed Secretary Treasurer for the ensuing year.
  • M/S C Ritchie/Mrs Holt that we offer Shephard and Forbes and J Cochrane each $4.25 per day for driving vans before accepting their tender, if they refuse this, to accept their tender.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/ C Ritchie the R. Mitchell tender be accepted for North Route at $3.50 per day.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/C Ritchie that Lyman Burton tender for cleaning, $35, be accepted.

  • Minutes last meeting read and adopted as read.
  • M/S/ C Ritchie/Mrs Holt that teachers salaries be paid as they become due and the Secretary be authorized to issue cheques for same.
  • M/S C Ritchie/Mrs EA Mooney that the accounts outstanding be paid: S.A. Baker $105; Free Press $3; Dr Clingan $15; L. Burton.
  • M/S Mrs Mooney/Mrs Holt that we ask the Hall Committee to pay for one fire extinguisher in their property.
  • M/S Mrs Holt/C Ritchie that Mrs D Smith be Truancy Officer.

91    Minutes of meeting of Trustees held in Schoolhouse Dec 1, 1927

  • M/S   C Ritchie/ Mrs Holt that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.
  • M/S   C Ritchie/ DD Cameron and resolved that the School Board take the stand that so long as the piano remains in the  school buildings that it is in the custody of the School Board and whoever removes it from the school room must be responsible for its return and further that if the party removing the piano will not return it that a charge be made to cover expense of returning it.
  • M/S D Cameron/ Mrs Holt that necessary steps be taken to make the North West Van comfortable.
  • M/S C Ritchie/ GA Dakin that we have the toilets repaired.
  • M/S Mrs Holt C Ritchie that Van Drivers be given a payment on account at the Xmas holidays and that outstanding accounts be paid.

103   Minutes of meeting held in School July 18. 1929

M/S  C Ritchie/W Wardle that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.

M/S  W Wardle/Mrs Mooney that we call for tenders for the North and the North-West routes to be in hands of Secretary not later than August 6, 1929 and that parents of pupils on South route be notified that a change is contemplated in the method of transportation and to meet the trustees Aug 7th meeting and that we call for tenders for caretaker for ensuing school year, caretaker to change storm sash & screens as required, sweep and dust and keep school clean generally and have school comfortable in morning by 9 o’clock.

M/S  Mrs Mooney/C Ritchie that we call for tenders for scrubbing floors and cleaning windows and that we have M. Dexter move chemical cabinet up from old school and put window in partitions of old building.

M/S  W Wardle/G Dakin that we get prices on Saunders Creek coal from Mr Burton and order a car where we can get it cheapest. Carried

Gardiner that after taking up your complaint we find the teacher is well within her rights and the Trustees would advise that the children coming regular to School and that we would appreciate all complaints coming to the Principal or Teacher or Trustees before going to the School Inspector.

M/S  W Wardle/JP Richardson that we pay Mr Wishart $20 for teaching during Mr Dickinson’s absence.

Transcription:    Minutes of meeting of Trustees held in Schoolhouse Dec 1, 1927.  Moved by C. Ritchie, seconded by Mrs Holt that Minutes of last meeting be adopted as read.

Moved by C. Ritchie and seconded by D.D.Cameron and resolved that the School Board take the stand that so long as the piano remains in the school buildings that it is in the custody of the school board and whoever removes it from the school room must be responsible for its return and further that if the party removing the piano will not return it that a charge be made to cover expense of returning it.

Moved by D. Cameron seconded by Mrs Holt that necessary steps be taken to make the north west van comfortable.

Moved by C. Ritchie seconded A. Dakin that we have the toilets repaired.
