Over the last few weeks I have added to the section on the Cameron Family of Berwick-upon-Tweed, completing short biographies of all five children. Only a few items remain to be scanned and inserted. In addition, I have added a number of pictures in the section “Woodnorth, Manitoba” – buildings, a train wreck in 1968, harvest time in 1944, the flood in 1969, an aerial view from 1989, etc.

  1. Hi Pamela
I sent an email to you but unsure if you received it?
Just to say, I am positive we are related…maybe cousins once removed. Your Grandmother Isabella and my Grandfather Leonard Allan Brownlees were Brother and Sister. I came across your website and was amazed at the amount of information you had, including photographs I had never seen before.
I would love to hear from you and help in any way I can…although my father Robert Beighet Brownlees would never want to talk about his father and knew very little of any of his siblings.
    Best wishes
    Madeline Caris nee Brownlees

      1. Hi Pamela
So nice to finally hear from you…hadn’t receive an email until today’s.
I am so excited to be in touch with you from good old Newcastle upon Tyne, to you in Manatoba, Canada…wow!
I started my Beighwt/ Brownlees, less Family Tree about 3 years ago just before my Dad died so he knew I needed information but it was hard for him to talk about his Father. Since trawling through websites I have gathered bit’s of info on Leonard Allan Brownlees and Cecilia.
I have Word Documents regarding Leonard’s prison terms etc. Would it be best to use your email and my email address direct, to send them on to you?
        Rather than through WordPress.com
I don’t do facebook only emails.
        Regards
        Madeline x

  2. Hi Madeline,
Yes, it is probably better to communicate through regular email rather than through WordPress. I guess that I don’t get an automatic notice if there is a comment on my word press site. I am still finding the site a bit challenging technically, even though it has been wonderful to be able to post my material! I can’t understand why you did not get the message I sent on Oct 20th as I thought I sent it directly but I am very glad to hear from you today.

Did your father’s sisters have children that you are in touch with? I am very curious to see any other old family photos that you might have. Isn’t it surprising that photos survived in rural Canada for more than a hundred years? I was always fascinated by them and got my mother to identify as many as she could. I have kept them all since she died 25 years ago and am finally finding an easy way to pass them on to other relatives via the internet. My mother was born in Canada and never visited England so met only three or four relatives, on her Dad’s side, who visited the family in Canada. But, she remembered her mother identifying a number of the people in her old album. I still have a few mystery photos that I hope I may solve some day.

By the way – my sister and a number of our cousins (who are also second cousins to you, as I am) still live in Manitoba but I reside in Edmonton, Alberta. It is about a twelve hour drive from where I grew up. It is so interesting to hear that you live in Newcastle-on-Tyne where grandma was born.
